Video & Motion Wedding Invitations — Cards That Move
When people search for a "video wedding invitation" they usually want one of two very different things: a video file to send on WhatsApp, or a card link that is alive and moves when opened. Both are valid, but only one of them can be edited after you have sent it and can collect RSVPs. This page explains the difference so you do not pay for the wrong one.
A video card is an MP4 file you send like any other video. A motion card is a link that opens a living page with animation — cloth that shifts slowly, light that changes, petals that fall — and on that same page sit the RSVP button, the map and the guestbook.

Why a moving link beats a video file
A video file looks great while you are viewing it on the designer's computer. The problems start after you send it.
WhatsApp compresses the videos you send. Names and dates set in small type often go blurry on your guests' phones, and you cannot see it because on your phone it still plays from the original file.
A video cannot be edited. Change the venue or fix a misspelt name and you have to re-render and resend to everyone — while some guests still hold the old version.
A video collects nothing. You still need a separate RSVP form, and guests must switch apps to fill it in. Every extra step lowers your response rate.
A video is not tappable. The address in it is just pixels; guests have to retype it into Waze.
A motion card runs into none of that, because it is a web page that moves rather than a file that was recorded.
Animated designs in our catalogue
Some designs in the catalogue carry a real animation layer rather than a still image: songket weave that catches the light as the card scrolls, dusk light shifting behind an archway, and layered movement that gives the cover depth. The animation runs on the guest's phone, so it stays sharp at any screen size and adds no video download.
These animated designs also respect the guest's own phone settings. If someone has turned on "reduce motion" because animation makes them dizzy, the card shows a still version that is still beautiful. You do not have to choose between a card that feels alive and a card everyone can open.
How to get a card that moves
1
Pick a design that carries an animation layer
Open the catalogue and preview designs on your phone. The preview is free and complete — you will see the real movement before paying anything.
2
Add your event details
Names, date, time, venue and programme. The animation keeps working without any re-tuning once your text is in.
3
Add background music
Motion and sound work together. Paste one YouTube link and your card has both.
4
Publish and share one link
Send that link on WhatsApp. No upload, no compression, and you can still edit the card after it has been distributed.
FAQ about video and motion wedding invitations
What is the difference between a video wedding card and a digital wedding card?
A video card is an MP4 file that plays like any other video — it cannot be tapped, cannot be edited and collects no RSVPs. A digital wedding card is a link to a living page that can carry animation, RSVP, a map and a guestbook at once, and can be edited after it is sent.
Can I download my card as a video?
There's no video export button, because the card has to stay live at one link for RSVPs and edits. For a WhatsApp Status or Instagram Story clip, screen-record your phone while scrolling the card. Our wedding card video guide shows how.
Does the animation slow the card down on older phones?
The animation runs on the guest's phone and is built to be light, and the card also respects the phone's "reduce motion" setting. For guests who have it on, the card shows a still version with all the event details intact.
How much does an animated wedding card cost?
Animated designs are included at the normal price — from RM10 one-off. Custom video work from a designer usually starts around RM80 and can run into the hundreds, and the result still cannot be edited once finished.
Can I use a motion card for events other than a wedding?
Yes. The same designs work for kenduri, engagements, aqiqah, birthdays and open houses — you simply change the event details and programme.
Do guests need to install anything to see the animation?
No. The card opens in their phone browser like any web page. Nothing to install, nothing to download.
